Enterprise Incentive Management in a SaaS Model

The demand for automated incentive compensation has brought it into the on-demand world. Implementing a world-class enterprise incentive management (EIM) system is essential given today's fierce global competition, and as Software as a Service (SaaS) gains momentum, more and more companies look for EIM in a SaaS model.

The mission-critical, confidential nature of EIM differentiates it from other applications and requires specific SaaS capabilities. Organizations examining EIM applications with the goal of leveraging SaaS must evaluate prospective vendors on a number of counts.

Starting with a best-of-breed EIM application is most important, followed by a careful scrutiny of the vendor's SaaS architecture model and other contracted provisions. The model should minimize privacy and security concerns, maintain or improve reliability, and ensure availability, scalability and performance -- all while effectively containing costs and accommodating application complexity.

Lockheed awarded $56M for work on ships

Lockheed Martin Corp. has been awarded $56 million from the U.S. Navy to equip and maintain Japanese and Norwegian combat ships with its Aegis weapon system, the signature product of the Moorestown plant.

"Through its alliances, the U.S. government decides what technology it wants to offer up to foreign nations, then contracts (with) us or any supplier to provide it," said Kenneth Ross, spokesman for the Maritime Systems and Services division in Moorestown.

Japan and Norway pay for the equipment and service and that money is passed onto Lockheed by the U.S. Navy.

Under the $23 million contract with Norway that was announced Tuesday, Lockheed will provide technical and management support of its Aegis computer system on five frigates.

The second contract calls for Lockheed to install its Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system on a Japanese destroyer, the second of four ships in the Japanese Self Defense Force to get the Aegis capability.
